Is there good Wine at Sam’s Club?
It seems like they have a fairly decent liquor section, but they have no catalog. The website has no varietals listed.
I agree with christnp.
Sam’s Club and Costco are both large discounted store with decent wine section. Their selection is pretty much dependent on what is being offered at that time, and it is store specific. As a result, you will not be able to select a specific wine at all time. However, if you are not picky and willing to try different wine, you can get some good bargain. Their prices are typically 20-30% less than retail, but sometimes you can get up to 40-50% – like Beringer’s Private Reserve Merlot, selling at a Sam’s here for $50 and typically runs $70-90. Also, you need to go to various locations – I have found some amazing bargains and rare Wines at Sam’s – from Mouton to Insignia to Mondavi Reserve to Ornanello, but I had to go all over town all the time for these hard to find gems. Regardless, you need to know what you are buying and what price you will be paying.
Typically, Costco has better selection than Sam’s. Also, Costco’s Wine Selection are also available online. However, there are always more Sam’s than Costco’s in term of number of stores
