Entertaining With American Cheese and Wine

Cheese is a solid food that is produced all over the world and made mainly from cows milk and goats milk. During the Revolutionary War, Americans missed the good imported English cheese, especially cheddar. As a result by the early 1800s Americans were making their own cheddar type cheese and becoming more and more independent of this popular British product. By 1860 American Cheese was so common it was simply called store cheese or factory cheese. In the 1920s store cheese was also called rattrap cheese or rat cheese. Brick cheese was a form of Limburger first produced in Belgian.

Entertaining with cheese can be practicable and fun! Nothing completes a party more than a sampler cheese tray. Traditional sampler platter should include a variety of cheeses such as Gouda, Blue, Aged Cheddar, Monterey Jack and Colby. Don’t forget crackers to go along with your cheese tray. There are more than 500 types of crackers to choose from, such as water crackers and wheat crackers along with pita chips and Italian toast. When setting out blocks of cheese, supply cheese utensil sets and cutting boards for your guest.

A rare and super premium Wines are amongst the most expensive of all food. However they don’t have to be when purchased on line. Wine is a popular and important beverage when entertaining and complement American cheese.
