Join a Wine Club and Learn About Wine!

While you are enjoying a glass of wine, do you ever wonder about the origin of The Wine, or wish that you knew how to conduct a proper wine tasting? Do you want to be able to discuss wine with friends? By joining a wine club, you can be introduced to the wide world of wine. There are five main steps you can use to taste a Wine And judge its color, smell, taste and feel.

  1. The first step in a wine tasting is to look at the wine in a clean glass and examine its color and clarity. Observe whether the wine is clear or cloudy, and the brightness of the color. To examine the body of the wine, look at how the wine coats the sides of the glass. If the “legs” of the wine drip slowly down the sides, the wine is more full-bodied.
  2. The second step in a wine tasting is to swirl the wine. By swirling the wine in the glass, you expose the wine to a greater surface area, and enhance the wine’s aromas. To properly swirl the wine, you should hold the wine glass by the base or the stem.
  3. The third step in a wine tasting is to smell the wine. Make sure to smell the wine several times. Try to recognize common aromas, including fruits, spices, herbs and flowers. Different people may smell different things in the same glass of wine.
  4. For the fourth step, you can sip the wine. Instead of swallowing the wine right away, let it roll over your tongue and recognize how it tastes on different parts of your tongue. Try to notice the body of the wine, as well as the tannin (bitterness), sweetness, fruitiness and acidity.
  5. Finally, the fifth step of a wine tasting is to swallow or spit the wine. Notice the aftertaste of the wine and how the flavors linger on your tongue.

Learning about wine can increase the enjoyment that you get out of a glass of wine. By joining a wine club, you can learn about the Wines that you enjoy, and be introduced to new wines as well!
